Building Hope: The Chapel Donation and Fundraising Campaign at TDCJ Rogelio Sanchez Unit

Hebrews 13:1  “Regard prisoners, as if you were in prison with them” (MSG)

Our board was formed in response to the ongoing ministry needs at the Sanchez Campus. Christ’s name is being praised regularly by a growing number of inmates. A number of local churches are involved in ongoing ministries using existing facilities. Ministry leaders have dreamed of a larger chapel to increase attendance and participation. Our board has learned from similar successful efforts elsewhere in the state. This has led us to announce this exciting initiative: the creation of a larger chapel dedicated to worship, prayer, and teaching. Our board has secured a letter of intent for the project from the TDCJ.

How You Can Help

Building a larger chapel will require the collective effort and generosity of individuals like you. Here are three ways you can contribute to this noble cause:

• Time (Prayers): Your heartfelt prayers for a greater spiritual impact and ministries that are currently working at the campus.
• Treasure (Money): Financial contributions to our qualified charity, no matter how small, can make a significant impact in turning this vision into reality.
• Talents (Volunteers): Offer your skills and time to assist in ongoing ministry or in the planning and fundraising for this initiative.

By coming together as a community, we can build not just a larger chapel, but a growing foundation of hope and positive change within the Sanchez Unit.

The Heart of Our Mission

God-centered gatherings within the confines of the prison are a beacon of hope and a sanctuary where inmates can find solace, guidance, and spiritual support. These gatherings provide a place for reflection, prayer, and positive transformation. The visual presence of a larger chapel can foster a sense of belonging, encourage personal growth, and facilitate the healing process, both spiritually and emotionally. The larger chapel will serve as a safe space for spiritual growth, offering guidance during times of uncertainty and helping individuals rebuild their lives with renewed purpose.

This initiative aligns with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s mission to promote positive change in offender behavior and successfully reintegrate individuals into society. A larger chapel space will contribute to these goals by offering a supportive environment for personal growth and spiritual development.
